Use of my VedaCMS editing application is included free with my standard design fee. This page provides an overview of features available within the software.

Licensing Terms

Although VedaCMS is included free with my standard web design package, it must be understood that I am only providing the right to use the software and that ownership rights for the CMS is never transferred to you. This means that websites using my software cannot duplicate, modify, distribute or re-use the CMS on any web site other than that which I originally installed it on.

I encourage you to review my VedaCMS licensing agreement so there is no confusion about what you can and cannot do with the software

Server Requirements

VedaCMS will only work with servers that meet the following requirements. Check with your hosting provider if you are unsure whether or not you have these features as I will not be able to install VedaCMS on your server if any of the following are missing.

  • Unix-based Server
  • PHP 5 or higher
  • mySQL 4 or higher
  • GD2 Library
  • Safe Mode OFF
  • Ability to create database
  • phpMyAdmin or similar

Note: VedaCMS WILL NOT work on a windows server

Non-Client Usage

VedaCMS is currently only available to design clients.

Upgrade Policy

Upgrades to newer versions of VedaCMS are always free for design clients. This includes 30 minutes of my time to perform the upgrade, which is more than sufficient in most cases. Upgrades that take longer than an hour would require paying my standard freelance rate of $30/hour for whatever additional time was needed. Upgrades are not proactive. This means you need to put in an upgrade request after a new version of the software is realeased. Upgrades are prioritized by the order in which I receive upgrade requests.

If an upgrade requires re-applying special customizations or creating additional pages on your site to take advantage of a new feature, please understand my standard freelance rate would apply for whatever additional time it took.

VedaCMS Features

VedaCMS is a complete web site editing application I personally developed exclusively for the needs of a companion website.  The software is only available to my hosted design clients and is provided at no additional cost.  Below you'll find a complete outline of features available within the system. VedaCMS web site editor allows you to manage the following types of content:

  • Web Page Editing:
    • Edit your own web page text
    • Standard text formatting (bold, underline, bullets, font color, etc)
    • Change font type from a list of web safe fonts
    • Upload and insert images onto the page
    • Easily create image or text links
    • Ability upload/play flash (.flv) or audio files directly on the page.
    • Ability to edit META tags on every page for effective search engine optimization
    • Spellcheck page content
    • Easily insert and modify tables
    • 'Source' view to edit in html mode
    • Set any page as 'members only'
    • Create additional pages (NEW!)
  • Gallery Page Management:
    • Upload photos individually or several at once!
    • No photo limit. Upload as many as you want!
    • Multiple Photo Albums
    • Ability to paginate large galleries (next/previous page links)
    • Ability to choose how many thumbnails to display per page
    • Ability to choose the shape of your album or photo thumbnails
    • Simple, online editing functions (crop, resize, sharpen)
    • Delete or reorder photos on your gallery page
    • Ability to change gallery thumbnail size
    • Ability to resize and set the maximum width and height of uploaded photos
    • Ability to add a custom text watermark to all photos on upload or individually
    • Ability to set any photo to 'members only'
    • A separate members only gallery is automatically generated when there are photos set as private
  • Availability Calendar:
    • Add, edit or remove calendar entries
    • Ability to span entry multiple days
    • Two display sizes available: Mini-calendar and Full size
    • Ability to edit the calendar display colors
    • Ability to modify the Legend text of what a highlighted day means
    • Choose whether or not to display the 'Location' field on the main calendar view
  • Mailing List Manager:
    • Add, delete or blacklist subscribers
    • Send newsletters to your mailing list subscribers from within VedaCMS
    • Ability to create up to five different mailing lists
    • Visitors can easily join from your web site
    • System notification when visitors subscrie to a list
    • Ability to import subscriber email addresses to a mailing list
    • Ability to export subscriber email addresses to a .cvs file
    • Ability to set the colors for the subscriber Join box form
    • Ability to change the reply to and from address of mailings
  • Membership Management
    • Set any of your content pages to be viewable to members-only with just one click
    • Set any of your photos to be private with one click, which automatically adds them to the members-only gallery
    • Set any of your blog posts to being viewable by members only
    • Set your entire website as members only (NEW!)
    • Add or remove web site members from within the member management section of VedaCMS
    • Track member login history
    • Visitors can request membership access from a form automatically generated on your website
    • Admin is notified of pending membership requests
    • Admin has the ability to approve/deny membership requests
    • A separate mailing list is automatically created within the mailer area for sending messages to members
  • Website Blog
    • Seamless integration with your existing website design.
    • Easily add, edit or delete blog postings from within the CMS
    • Create and set post categories

    • Uses the same editor that you use to edit your other web pages, so you can add audio or flash movies to a post.
