VedaDesigns.net Secure Site

Dec 1st, 2006 | Posted in Announcements |

As something which has been on my ‘to-do’ list for ages, I’m happy to announce that I finally have a SSL certificate installed on VedaDesigns.net. This essentially means that you can browse & access certain pages on a secure, 128-bit encrypted connection.

I specifically set this up for my contact form and payment page (which you can now access securely by clicking the lock graphic at the top of those pages) …though you could securely browse any part of my site by simply replacing the ‘http://’ in your address bar with ‘https://’.

Note: My contact & payment pages are the only ones I currently have set up for 100% security. On other pages, you’ll get a message from IE saying ‘This page contains secure & non-secure items’. What this means is that not all of my images or links are using the ‘https://’ url method. You’re still browsing securely…but some of the images and links are being pulled from non-encrypted sources.

I’ve also updated my server status page to show connectivity for the new server (as opposed to the old one). This feature is handy if you think your email or website may be down and want to make sure it isn’t a server issue. If everything is showing a green check mark – then all services are running normally. This article from my knowledgebase explains what the various check mark categories mean.
